The jazzman's work with a slew of rock and pop singers.
Artist Biography
David Sanborn is the most influential saxophonist on pop, R&B, and crossover players of the rock era. One of his greatest contributions to music has been his passionate sound, with its crying and squealing high notes, and his emotional interpretations of melodies. (Unlike his countless imitators, Sanborn is immediately recognizable within two notes.) He began recording as a leader in the mid-'70s and racked up a string of successful jazz records. Over the years, he has worked with many pop musicians, but he has made his biggest impact leading his own groups.
