About Brown Dirt Cowboys
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of our first shows was at Jimmy's in Wrightsville Beach, NC back in 2020. The lineup at the time was Joel Lamb on keys/vocals, Riley Kearns on bass, Derron Blackman on drums/vocals, and Bobby Lloyd on guitar.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Drive-By Truckers, Decoration Day Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection Futurebirds, Teamwork These three records are very influential in the current sound and direction of Brown Dirt Cowboys. We've always wanted to be at the intersection of country, blues, gospel and soul music. We love the sound and the songwriting on each of these records.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Nothing but a Melody” This song was the first one written for Weary Of The Maze and set the tone for the rest of the record. Bobby and Alex's guitars really start to blend and play off each other here, and the lyrics begin to take a brutally honest, introspective turn.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater for Azalea Festival April 9th 2022 really led to a lot of good relationships and opportunities in Wilmington. Hearing our songs from Weary of The Maze and Golden in the Moonlight on WUIN 98.3 and WHQR 91.3
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We consider every performance and every recording to be a little time capsule of our growth and development as a band, and our greatest hope is to be able to continue to perform and record new music together for as long as we can.
