Artist Biography
Debuting as a Christian metalcore band in 1999, Underoath gradually reshaped their sound on their way to becoming one of the most dynamic groups in hard rock.
∙ Underoath’s 2004 breakout LP, They’re Only Chasing Safety, was nominated for a Rock Album of the Year Dove Award.
∙ They’ve been nominated for two Grammy Awards: Best Short Form Music Video, for 2006’s “Writing On the Walls,” and Best Metal Performance, for 2028’s “On My Teeth.”
∙ Define the Great Line, their Gold-certified 2006 LP, entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 and the Top Christian Albums listing at No. 1.
∙ Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain formed the side-project Sleepwave, releasing Broken Compass, which was included among Rock Sound’s Top 50 Albums of 2014.
∙ Marking the group’s sonic shift from metalcore to alternative rock, 2018’s Erase Me featured “On My Teeth,” which landed on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.
