Peter Wolf, a dynamic singer heavily influenced by blues and soul, formed the group that would become the J. Geils Band in 1967. Originally known for its marathon live performances, the group split shortly after scoring a number one hit with "Centerfold." Wolf went on to produce numerous film soundtracks and run art exhibits of his original paintings. He released his first solo album, Lights Out, in 1984 and continued to record every few years -- albums like Come as You Are (1987), Sleepless (2002), and Midnight Souvenirs (2010) -- while performing on a relatively frequent basis. This activity included a series of 2009 concerts with the reunited J. Geils Band. ~ Richard Skelly
