Artist Biography
Merzbow, born Masami Akita, is a noise/industrial music pioneer. Since the early '80s, he has issued more than 400 albums. His fondness for junk art, fascination with ritualized eroticism, and passion for animal rights fuel his creative vision. He employs tape manipulations, metal percussion, found objects, live electronics, power tools, and more. During the pandemic, Akita recorded dozens of albums. In 2021, he released 10×6=60CD BOX, composed of unreleased and excavated material dating back to 1979. 2022 saw the release of the second entry, 35 CD BOX, commencing with his work from 2006. The seminal Peace for Animals also saw daylight. In February 2023, Noise Matrix appeared.
