About Flogging Molly
Formed in Dublin in 1994, Celtic punk band Flogging Molly took their name from L.A. bar Molly Malone’s, where they had a longtime Monday night residency.
∙ Flogging Molly frontman Dave King got his start in Fastway, a British band formed by Motörhead guitarist Eddie Clarke and UFO bassist Pete Way.
∙ Within a Mile of Home—dedicated to the memory of Clash frontman Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash—topped Billboard’s Independent Album chart in 2004.
∙ The band traveled to Ireland to cut their most successful album, 2008’s Float, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
∙ Award-winning artist Shepard Fairey designed the artwork for their Platinum-selling longform video/CD collection, Whiskey on a Sunday.
∙ In 2015, the band organized the first annual Salty Dog Cruise, a Caribbean sea voyage on which Flogging Molly and other groups perform.
