Artist Biography
Alejandra Guzmán is the daughter of Mexican rock pioneer Enrique Guzmán and legendary actress Silvia Pinal.
∙ Her edgy costumes, gravelly vocals, and energetic stage show earned her the nickname La Reina del Rock (The Queen of Rock).
∙ Her Latin Grammy-winning album, Soy, featured famed guitarist Joe Satriani along with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
∙ After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, Guzmán wrote the song “Hasta el Final” as a hopeful message to her daughter.
∙ She cowrote “Día de Suerte,” the theme song for the telenovela Una Familia con Suerte, and also appeared on the show as a character named for her own late sister, Viridiana.
∙ Versus, a 2017 collaboration with fellow Mexican rock icon Gloria Trevi, marked the first time a female duo hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
∙ Guzmán is a judge on La Voz, the Mexican iteration of the popular singing-competition show The Voice.
∙ She has twice joined her mother onstage—in a production of Mame while still a teenager, then ten years later as Louise in Gypsy.
