About Shanelle Gabriel
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
At 8, when my sister became the children’s choir director at our church, the expectation was that I would join and help. Though a soprano, was made to teach three-part harmonies. This, along with my love of reading, sparked my love for music & lyrics
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Dru Hill, Enter the Dru
Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Richard Smallwood, 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Richard Smallwood
Lauryn Hill's flawless album proved women could be valued for talent and lyrics, not just looks—a struggle I faced early on. Smallwood's musicality is unmatched, and to this day, I can listen to harmony-driven Dru Hill's album on repeat, no skips.
