A British musical theater actor and singer, Lee Mead scored the lead in the 2007 London revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat after winning a reality television talent show called Any Dream Will Do. The lead role was not his first on-stage, nor was it his first in Joseph. He appeared in many musical theater roles, including Tommy and Miss Saigon. The appearance and win on Any Dream Will Do led to the starring role and a recording contract with Polydor. In 2007, he released his debut solo album, featuring a number of Gary Barlow-penned tracks and a number of cover versions. His contract with Joseph was extended due to popular demand, and after over 600 performances in the role, his final performance came on the January 10, 2009. A few months later, Mead released his sophomore album, Nothing Else Matters. A collection of new material and covers, the album included a duet with New Zealand classical crossover star Hayley Westenra. Taking time away from the stage in 2009, Mead returned to the stage the following year with a part in a major touring stage play, Lord Arthur Saville's Crime -- adapted from the short story by Oscar Wilde -- and six months later, he landed the part of Fiyero in the West End production of Wicked. In 2011, Mead step into the shoes of Emmett in the London production of Legally Blonde, while making a one-off guest appearance on the BBC hospital drama Casualty and in Sky's science fiction drama Bedlam. Early 2012 saw the release of his third studio album, Love Songs. As the title suggested, Mead took on a selection of classic love songs, including renditions of Coldplay's "Fix You" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." At the end of the year, the British tradition of pantomime seduced Mead for the first time and he appeared in the title role of Jack and the Beanstalk alongside comedian Julian Clary and British TV star Nigel Havers. Returning to the stage in 2013 in The West End Men -- which featured the leading men performing songs from West End shows -- he also did a second stint in pantomime that December, playing the lead role in Robin Hood. Mead returned to the BBC drama Casualty in 2014 with a full-time role as Lofty Chiltern, for which he was nominated Favorite Newcomer at both the TV Times Awards and 2015 National Television Awards. At the beginning of 2016, Mead announced the release of his fourth studio album, Some Enchanted Evening. ~ Chris True & Rich Wilson
