In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a 3-year-old, I remember creating Radio shows on a Sanyo double-cassette deck with my mother. We would make up songs and interview each other. Music was everywhere in our Bengali immigrant home.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aphex Twin, Richard D. James Album Björk, Homogenic Missy Elliott, Miss E... So Addictive In Björk and Missy Elliott’s albums, the collision of music, visual art, fashion, performance and sonic experimentation blew my mind. Richard D. James ' album was my first introduction to electronica as something emotional.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Pan to Artemis (Bonus Track)” This was a song which was inspired by Meredith Monk, Joan La Barbara and Philip Glass. I wrote it in one sitting before I headed out and partied in East London. That collision of classical and club culture is where I thrive.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Being a British South Asian composer & artist working across orchestral, film and immersive media is more than enough! Being able to collaborate with such incredible artists in a cross-disciplinary fashion is my dream come true.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to score feature films and create more audiovisual installations.
