Italy's Vlad in Tears morphed from an alt-rock cover band to an original dark rock outfit in the mid-2000s, pulling on threads of goth, industrial, nu-metal, and even symphonic rock on their debut album, 2007's Seeds of an Ancient Pain. Subsequent records Underskin (2010) and the eclectic, conceptual Welcome to Vladyland (2011) started to attract a loyal following among rock fans in Europe, particularly Germany, where the group would end up relocating. Vlad in Tears ushered in an edgier sound on their self-titled 2014 album (featuring an unusual take on Paul Anka's anthemic "My Way") and 2016's Unbroken. It was followed by more stylistically diverse releases, 2020's Dead Stories of Forsaken Lovers and the post-COVID Porpora (2022), featuring the popular original "Right Now." 2024's slick Relapse was quickly followed a year later by Hide Inside.
