Artist Biography
For years, Israeli jazz drummer and composer Ziv Ravitz has been one of the most sought-after sidemen in modern jazz, playing and recording with such names as Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Tomasz StaĆko, Shai Maestro, Florian Weber, Oded Tzur, and Avishai Cohen. Born in Beersheba, Israel in 1976 into a musical family, Ravitz was recognized as a prodigy, performing live by the age of 13, regularly playing with established jazz, rock, and pop names while still in high school, and touring internationally while still in his early twenties. In 2001 he formed the trio Minsarah with German pianist Florian Weber and American bassist Jeff Denson. Ravitz's debut album as leader was 2009's self-released Images from Home; his second, No Man Is an Island, appeared a decade later.
