A four-piece ensemble based in Chicago, Third Coast Percussion concentrates on contemporary American repertoire for percussion. It has made premiere recordings of commissioned works by the likes of Philip Glass and Augusta Read Thomas, as well as the group's original compositions. After building a reputation early on for its lively, virtuosic performances, the group made its recording debut in 2008 with Ritual Music, which was composed by member David Skidmore. Third Coast Percussion won a Grammy in 2017 for their sixth album, Third Coast Percussion & Steve Reich. In 2021, the group joined guitarists Clarice Assad and Sergio Assad for Archetypes.
