About Texas In July
Formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Texas in July came together in 2007 while the bandmembers were still in high school together. Consisting of singer Alex Good, drummer Adam Gray, guitarists Christian Royer and Logan Maurer, and bassist Ben Witkowski, the group debuted its intricate, breakdown-heavy metalcore sound in 2008 with the EP Salt of the Earth, released on CI Records. The quintet followed up quickly the next year with its first full-length, I Am, which Texas in July supported by heading out on the road with bands like the Devil Wears Prada and August Burns Red. The summer of 2010 saw Texas in July going through some changes, first announcing that they were signing on with Equal Vision, and shortly afterwards announcing the departure of Maurer, who split with the band amicably after deciding to head to college after finishing high school rather than spending time touring. The band recruited guitarist Chris Davis and went back into the studio to work on its debut for Equal Vision, One Reality, which was released in 2011. ~ Gregory Heaney
