This short-lived pairing of two already established solo artists occurred after a conversation at London's Hard Rock Cafe, where the performers joked that the moniker "Moe & Joe" sounded almost as musical as "Waylon & Willie." Back in the U.S., they went to work on a duet album, Just Good Ol' Boys, which hit the market in 1979. In a town full of songwriters who often took their jobs a little too seriously (not every song has to be as meaningful as "Help Me Make It Through the Night"), their macho, male-bonding humor was a welcome relief. Unfortunately, the duo posed a problem for each artist's solo career. The tandem overshadowed their individual efforts, and they abandoned the Moe & Joe concept for good after 1984's send-up of Boy George, "Where's the Dress." ~ Tom Roland
