Artist Biography
Songwriter Ed Droste started the alternative rock band Grizzly Bear as a solo project, releasing the album Horn of Plenty in 2004.
∙ Veckatimest, the band’s third album, debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.
∙ Their song “Two Weeks” has been sampled by Childish Gambino (“B***h Look at Me Now”), G-Eazy (“Acting Up”), and K. Flay (“2 Weak”).
∙ The acoustic ballad “Slow Life” was featured in Twilight: New Moon during a pivotal scene in which Bella sees a phantom image of vampire Edward while floating underwater.
∙ Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has called Grizzly Bear “my favorite band in the world,” while Jay-Z and Beyoncé were filmed dancing at the band’s 2009 show in Brooklyn.
∙ Their tour in support of 2012’s Shields wrapped up with a sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House that was streamed live.
∙ A 2018 Toronto gig was referred to as the band’s “last show” in an Instagram post, leading fans to wonder if, or when, they will perform together again.
