About The Late Call
The Late Call is the artistic moniker of Stockholm-based German singer/songwriter Johannes Mayer. He made his debut in 2009 with Leaving Notes, a collection of warm, introspective indie folk songs that showed off his rich voice and thoughtful songwriting. You Already Have a Home followed suit, building on a classic singer/songwriter sound that recalled vintage John Martyn mixed with occasional Americana elements. By the time of Pale Morning Light, his sound had been fleshed out a bit more with added percussion, piano, and even more strings. Searching to alter his sound even further, Mayer spent 2014 putting together a backing band, resulting in his more lushly arranged, gently rocking fourth album, 2015's Golden. ~ Timothy Monger
