In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My parents were always moving ...we moved 13 times by the time I was in middle school. We arrived as usual, late in the semester and my parents enrolled me at Cedar Park Middle School where I was turned on to the saxophone by the teacher Robert Ernst What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Miles Davis Quintet, Miles Smiles
Shelly Manne, Shelly Manne & His Men At the Blackhawk, Vol. 1 (Live) Live
The Jazz Cursaders, The Best of Jazz Crusaders
Miles Smiles ... nothing has or ever will sound like it. The epitome of culture manifesting in the music at the time and a signature moment. The tone of Wilton Felder and the crusaders chnaged my life. Richie Kamuka one of my favorite saxophonists. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Grandma's Hands”
My grandmother was a guiding light to me growing up with a family that moved every other year and had no stability. From Raymond MS she was always in the back of my mind and showing me where I wanted to go. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
I was asked to perform for the Peace on Earth Celebration and lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Whitehouse twice.
