Born on June 12, 1979, in Angoulême, France, pop singer/songwriter Amandine Bourgeois was the first-place winner of the 2008 season of Nouvelle Star, a French-language adaptation of Pop Idol. In the immediate aftermath of her Nouvelle Star accomplishment, she was offered a major-label recording contract with Sony Music and recorded her full-length album debut, 20 M2, released in 2009. Co-written with others, 20 M2 proved popular upon its release, reaching the Top Ten of the albums chart in France, the Top Ten in Belgium, and the Top 30 in Switzerland. "L'Homme de la Situation," written by award-winning Québécois singer/songwriter Ariane Moffatt, was released as the album's lead single.
