In fact, the music that Orlando Higginbottom makes under the alias captures a far more mature mix of emotions, one where youthful whimsy collides with wistful nostalgia. The Oxford, England native got his start in the late 2000s, when his first EPs appeared on Hot Chip’s Greco-Roman label—the perfect launching pad for his own ambivalent electro-pop, where jacking house and UK garage grooves meet melancholy falsetto melodies.
