Artist Biography
Canadian swamp blues and roots rock trio MonkeyJunk formed in 2008 in Ottawa, Ontario. Out of the gate, they boasted a slightly unusual setup with vocalist and harmonica player Steve Marriner manning the baritone guitar rather than the more typical bass. Also featuring lead guitarist Tony D and drummer Matt Sobb, they cover an array of roots-oriented styles with a gritty and muscular take on blues forming the heart of their sound. They issued their debut album Tiger in Your Tank in 2009, followed by To Behold (2011), for which they won the Juno Award for Best Blues Album; All Frequencies (2013); and Moon Turn Red (2015), the latter of which was produced by Blue Rodeo's Colin Cripps. ~ Timothy Monger
