Active from 1964 to 2024, the American Youth Symphony was a major educational institution. The group counts many members of American orchestras, especially in the Los Angeles area, among its alumni. Its concerts featured internationally prominent performers as soloists. The American Youth Symphony issued several recordings, including, shortly before its demise, Kris Bowers: For a Younger Self in 2024.
