Artist Biography
The experimental music guitarist Alan Licht was equally inspired by mainstream pop (Paul McCartney’s Wings), then by the rock underground of his youth (Sonic Youth), and later by the minimalist composers of the '70s (Steve Reich). Licht brings a little of each to his assorted musical ventures. In the trio Love Child, his approach was imbued with melodic, almost power-pop hooks charged with bracing distortion, while in live solo performance, Licht can build upon and layer cyclical riffs in mesmerizing fashion. He is also a music journalist and has authored two books: An Emotional Memoir of Martha Quinn and Sound Art: Beyond Music
