About Mindi Abair
Artist Biography
Mindi Abair is a Grammy-nominated contemporary jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. She established an early reputation for solid work as a session musician with acts ranging from the Backstreet Boys to Teena Marie and the Gap Band while leading her own working group. Since 1999, she has recorded as a leader for a variety of labels and continued playing on sessions as a featured soloist. Her albums -- including 2006's Life Less Ordinary and 2014's Wild Heart -- have topped various industry charts and netted Grammy nods. 2018's No Good Deed, her third album leading Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers, won eight Independent Blues Awards. 2021 saw the release of The Best of Mindi Abair. In 2022, after four albums with the Boneshakers, she released Forever. Self-produced, it crisscrossed jazz, pop, country, R&B, and blues, and featured her singing right alongside her saxophone playing.
