Born in Barcelona in 1986, Maria Rodés is a Spanish singer, songwriter, and author whose songs typically fuse her hushed, intimate vocals with a subtle experimentation with sound. After having released a record as one half of the duo Oníric with guitarist Andy Poole, Rodés went solo in 2010 with Una Forma De Hablar. It was followed by Sueño Triangular (2012) and Maria Canta Copla (2014). The latter's striking approach to the traditional Andalucian folk genre was praised by David Byrne and earned Rodés her first taste of international recognition. She is considered one of the most interesting voices to emerge from a new generation of Spanish female singer-songwriters exploring a spectrum running from indie pop to folklore on efforts like Lilith (2020), Fuimos Los Dos (2022), and Lo Que Me Pasa (2025).
