About Hamish Napier
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My mother singing and playing the harp in the house w hen I was a child.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Alison Krauss & Union Station, Alison Krauss & Union Station: Live
James Taylor, James Taylor: Greatest Hits
Michael McGoldrick, Morning Rory
Incredible Irish flute playing from one of the finest folk musicians in the world. This album blew me away from the moment I first heard in 1997. I learned to play nearly all the tunes from it. A stellar cast of musicians too, some from Capercaillie.

“Hollow - A Tribute to the Memory of Findlay Herbert Cumming / Òran Fhionnlaigh”
Written as a atribute to my Grandfather who I never got the chance to meet. The music is a pibroch (the classical solo music of Scotland's Highland Bagpipe) blended with a Gaelic song about his tragic hillwalking accident and to celebrates his life.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Playing grand piano with Duncan Chisholm's 15 piece all-star Scottish folk band on stage at a sold-out Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at Celtic Connections Festival in 2024. I played a piano solo - one of my own compositions.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Play the Tiny Desk Concert in NYC.
Or sell-out sell out the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall or Edinburgh Playhouse playing a concert of my music with a great band of my favourite folk musicians.
