In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My first musical luv was the Beatles - the first ever copy of anything I had was Sgt Peppers on CD, age 6, and the first time I ever performed live I was seven years old and I sang Yesterday on loop for about three hours at an open air market. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Bob Dylan, Blonde On Blonde
Nico, The Velvet Underground, The Velvet Underground & Nico (45th Anniversary Edition)
The Beatles, The Beatles (The White Album)
These albums that led me to everything else I love - the Beatles led me to all my favorite melodic pop and rock and indie, Bob Dylan led me to traditional folk, symbolist poetry, and the Old Weird America, and the Velvets to garage/punk & avant garde Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Halfway Home”
The title track of my latest album is probably the one I'm proudest of - for the chord progression and the lyrics, and the fact that Scarlet Rivera (of Bob Dylan fame) is playing violin on it. I'll be grateful for that the rest of me life..! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Tracking the bass parts for Halfway Home with Tony Garnier at Van Gelder Studios. He was playing a bass that used to belong to Charles Mingus, and my God were there ghosts in that building. Coming to that right out of lockdown was so cool & surreal!! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Touring, touring, touring! I'm dying to get out in the world on a properly managed tour. I've done a few DIY tours, but I would just love to get on a long string of dates where all I have to focus on is staying fit and my artistry & performance.
