In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Pageant Queen was one of the first things we wrote together when we started the band. When I wrote the lyrics, I imagined myself as a pageant queen trying to list the reasons as to why I should be a winner while battling with all my insecurities.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Death Grips, The Money Store SOPHIE, OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES Sleater-Kinney, Dig Me Out 2014 Remastered Version Aggression and invention in the face of injustice – these are things these albums express (in totally different ways aesthetically) and what really animates us.

Tell us why you chose this song. “Higher” I was being pulled in completely different directions and the conversational tone of the lyrics illustrates the same mundane and cliched conversations I’d find myself in as a woman in my 30s. This song is about tension and release.
