Artist Biography
New York's Garlands first unleashed their style of jangly indie pop in the late '90s with the release of a self-titled cassette and the Just the Verses vinyl single. Those releases were followed by various compilation appearances, including releases by Shelflife Records, Blackbean & Placenta Records, and Sealed Fate Records. In 1999, the six-song (Picnic, Lightning) was released on Mister Records. The disc was instantly compared to '80s Brit-pop. They were featured on March Records' Reproductions: Songs of the Human League with their cover of "Being Boiled" in 2000. In 2001, Michigan's Audiopants Records featured their version of Smokey Robinson's "The Tracks of My Tears" on the compilation Shoop Dee Doop: A Tribute to Motown. ~ Stephen Cramer
