Artist Biography
DJ and electronica innovator Scott Herren, better known as Prefuse 73, is one of the few artists to have had success within the worlds of hip-hop, electronic music, and indie rock. Since the late '90s, Herren has created a musical pastiche that moves from glitchy noise bursts to boom-bap hip-hop to hazy, experimental R&B soundscapes. His work has been considerably influential, as his sampling techniques have seeped into the production styles of numerous artists. Prefuse 73 has been associated with a host of artists including the Sea & Cake, Tortoise, Mos Def, GZA, Aesop Rock, and the Books. In addition to performing and recording under the names Piano Overlord, Savath & Savalas, and Delarosa & Asora, Herren also ran the Eastern Developments label. ~ Rovi Staff
