Artist Biography
Formed in Paisley, Scotland in 1968, this folk group took their name from the town’s weaving community and the 18th-century Scottish poet Robert Tannahill. In spite of numerous line-up changes over the years the strong Celtic flavour in the Tannahill Weavers' music, which combines bagpipes and electric instrumentation, remained consistent. Their reputation grew through high profile support slots with Steeleye Span (and later, Dire Straits), and by the mid-'90s the line-up had stabilised and as a result the group’s recordings were among the best of their long career.
