Artist Biography
A former performer with punk outfits Slik and the Rich Kids, Midge Ure joined Ultravox in 1979, moulding the band from cult favorites to one of the biggest New Wave acts of the early '80s. In 1982, Ure enjoyed solo success with a U.K. Top 10 hit, "No Regrets." Along with Bob Geldof, he set up Band Aid, an all-star group for Ethiopian famine relief. The group's multi-million-selling "Do They Know It’s Christmas?" and related 1985 concert, Live Aid, proved hughly successful. The same year, he returned to his solo music career with the album THE GIFT, followed by two less successful efforts, ANSWERS TO NOTHING (1987) and PURE (1991).
