His elegant, R&B-inflected techno is as dreamy as it is catchy.
About George FitzGerald
Artist Biography
The first decade of George FitzGerald’s career mirrored the trajectory of left-field club music in the 2010s. After watching dubstep’s rapid development from behind the counter of a London record store in the mid-2000s, FitzGerald moved to Berlin in 2010 and released a string of punchy, garage-influenced singles on Scuba’s Hotflush label. As bass music evolved, FitzGerald’s work began soaking up inspiration from classic house; then, on his 2015 debut album, Fading Love, he stepped beyond the dance floor to explore a more personal brand of late-night electronic music, pairing melancholy vocals with brooding textures and slow-motion grooves. Following FitzGerald’s return to London, he sank even deeper into his moody style on 2018’s All That Must Be, coaxing radiant colors out of vintage-sounding synths. But the club still beckoned, and in 2020, he teamed up with UK funky stalwart Lil Silva as OTHERLiiNE, and together, they used Silva’s propulsive rhythms as the vehicle to return FitzGerald’s introspective sounds to the dance floor.
