Whether as a member of the beloved Australian indie pop band the Crayon Fields --or on his own on a series of albums that cast him as a more relatable Bryan Ferry -- singer/songwriter/producer Geoffrey O'Connor displays enough wit, skill, and melodic invention to give his work a very distinctive quality. The 2009 Crayon Fields album All the Pleasures of the World is a treasured artifact for lovers of sophisticated indie pop; his solo albums have a lush, very '80s sound that never lapses into tired nostalgia. On 2021's For as Long as I Can Remember, he teamed up with an impressive cast of female duet partners to create a timeless heartbreak classic, and 2025's I Love What We Do extends the collaborative spirit to the musical side of the equation.
