Artist Biography
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I was probably five years old with my eye level right about at the piano keys. We had a family party where Aunt Marge's friend, Angelita, played ragtime piano, with that stride bassline, literally right before my eyes. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
John Renbourn, The Best of John Renbourn Reissue
János Starker, Bach: The Cello Suites by János Starker
Paul Simon, Over the Bridge of Time: A Paul Simon Retrospective (1964-2011)
Janos Starker is my role model for how to play the Cello Suites. I listen to it over and over and still hear new things.
John Renbourn was one of my very first musical heroes.
And Paul Simon has made the world a better place over and over again. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Chicago Trilogy I: Blue”
This is the first of 3 tunes comprising the Chicago Trilogy that features Bela Fleck playing a second banjo, and Bob Lizik (Brian Wilson Ensemble) playing bass.
It portrays my vision of the banjo reaching beyond the expected.
