Born in 1967 into the musical heartbeat of New Orleans, Harry Connick, Jr. stands as one of jazz’s most accomplished contemporary voices. Mentored and taught by piano legends Ellis Marsalis Jr and James Booker, he was performing publicly by five, recording with a local jazz band at 10, and had already soloed with the New Orleans Symphony at nine. His 11 No. 1 US jazz albums have earned him more chart-toppers than any other artist in jazz chart history, with worldwide sales exceeding 30 million records.

Beginning his recording career as an instrumental pianist, Connick introduced his warm-toned vocals on his second album, 20, before the soundtrack to When Harry Met Sally announced him as a major vocal talent, earning his first Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance. His multiplatinum catalog spans both disciplines: the big-band vocal swing of Blue Light, Red Light, We Are in Love, and Songs I Heard, each Grammy-winning, sits alongside dedicated piano records including the Connick on Piano series. A renaissance figure of rare range, he has earned Tony nominations on Broadway both as an actor in The Pajama Game and as a composer/lyricist for Thou Shalt Not, alongside Emmy-winning concert specials and roles in over 20 films.

Off stage, his co-conception of Musicians’ Village with Branford Marsalis after Hurricane Katrina remains one of his most defining achievements. In May 2026, he made his long-awaited Carnegie Hall debut with BABE: ELABORATIO, a symphonic tribute to his mother. Honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and 16 Grammy nominations, Connick remains one of jazz’s most compelling ambassadors.
