Indian singer Ammy Virk credits his mother for encouraging him to pursue his dream of making music.
∙ Virk was in his final semester of college, pursuing a degree in biotechnology, when a song he’d uploaded to the internet went viral and launched his career
∙ His first album, 2013’s Jattizm, won Album of the Year at the PTC Music Awards, Punjab’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
∙ The 2017 film Qismat, based on Virk’s hit single of the same name, became one of the biggest blockbusters in Punjabi film history.
∙ His songs have appeared on the soundtracks of several Punjabi films in which he’s had starring roles, including Bambukat, Laung Laachi, and Sufna.
∙ Virk made his Bollywood debut portraying a cricket star in the 2020 biopic ’83.
