Artist Biography
The members of Ciudad would probably admit they never meant to reinvent Pinoy indie rock. In 1994, four high school pals just wanted to pass a Social Studies project with an original song, but suddenly discovered a singular drive to make guitar-driven, hook-laden and tongue-in-cheek tunes together. And for the next two decades that’s exactly what they did—invigorating the genre as they playfully rattled through rock tropes with acerbic humour duly in place. Yet their secret is that despite its geeky overtones their music is mature and subtly complex: the fun is serious and seriously fun.
