About Bruce Dickinson
Artist Biography
Bruce Dickinson is one of heavy metal’s greatest frontmen, a lithe stage presence and dynamic singer who brings opera-caliber flair and ferocity to signature Iron Maiden songs such as “Run to the Hills” and “The Number of the Beast.” Born in 1958 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, Dickinson first honed his skills in pubs with a band called Shots and then with the metal band Samson before joining Iron Maiden in 1981 as the replacement for singer Paul Di’Anno. He steered the band to global success in the ’80s before departing in 1993 for what would be a six-year break. In addition to his band work, Dickinson has dabbled in solo albums (1990’s Tattooed Millionaire) and published several books; he is also a decorated pilot who has been known to fly Iron Maiden from gig to gig himself via a private chartered plane.
