About Sunflower Dead
An elastic metal unit based out of Long Beach, California who produce a modern rock radio-ready blend of nu/alt-metal, greasepaint-heavy horrorcore, and groove-laden, melodic hard rock, Sunflower Dead bring the evil, but they're more Kiss than Marilyn Manson. Formed in 2012 around the talents of vocalist/accordionist Michael Del Pizzo, lead guitarist Jaboo (Two Hit Creeper), guitarist Jamie Teissiere (Droid), bassist Leighton "Lats" Kearns (Memento), and drummer Jimmy Schultz (In This Moment), the band issued its mythology-driven, eponymous debut album in 2012 via Bloody Bat Records. Their sophomore outing, 2015's It's Time to Get Weird, was produced by Dave Fortman (Evanescence, Slipknot, Godsmack), and featured a guest appearance by Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis. ~ James Christopher Monger
