Absolutely Free are a Canadian experimental pop trio from Toronto. The group was formed in 2012 from the ashes of the art punk outfit MM/DD/YYYY, who shared similar abstract tendencies. Taking influences from Krautrock, psychedelia, African polyrhythms, and early electronic music, the band released a pair of well-regarded singles in 2012 and 2013, teaming up with producer Mike Haliechuk (F****d Up, Austra) to record their eclectic self-titled debut LP. Absolutely Free have delivered their hypnotic, off-kilter take on pop music at major North American festivals like SXSW, NXNE, Pop Montreal, and CMJ. After signing with Canadian indie Arts & Crafts, they delivered their first LP in October 2014. ~ Timothy Monger
