About Lauren Mayberry
On her own and with Chvrches, Lauren Mayberry puts her emotions -- and crystal-clear soprano vocals -- at the forefront of her music. As one-third of Chvrches, she pioneered an influential blend of classic synth pop and contemporary electronic sounds on albums including 2013's anthemic U.K. Top Ten hit The Bones of What You Believe and 2021's sharply observed Screen Violence. On her own, she brought the heart-tugging immediacy of her voice to collaborations with Death Cab for Cutie and the National's Aaron Dessner before releasing 2023's "Are You Awake?," a confessional, piano-driven ballad far removed from her band's usual style. On 2024's full-length Vicious Creature, Mayberry explored feminist themes and sounds ranging from punk to pop on her own terms.
