About Keith Ward
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my earliest musical memories is visiting my grandparents in Knoxville, TN. They had an old, never tuned piano in the living room. I’d press the keys endlessly, captivated by the sound. That broken piano was my first real encounter with music.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Dave Matthews Band, Crash John Mayer, Room for Squares Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Crash gets me creating. Kind of Blue quiets my mind. Room for Squares spoke to my heart when I was becoming myself. These albums aren’t just music—they’re time capsules for who I was, who I am, and who I want to be.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Backup Plan” “Backup Plan” is my true story—quitting a job, chasing music, driving a van with a piano in the trunk. It’s about betting on yourself when there’s no fallback. Every lyric reminds me: this is the plan.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing a sold out show at Rockwood Stage 2. That venue felt like such a vibe, it was more than a venue it was a social club for New York Based musicians.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Play keyboard on stage with Dave Matthews. He's someone I've always admired as a musician but also as a family man. Would love to get on stage and jam with him next time he plays Madison Square Garden.
