In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We gathered in the basement of our student house in East Lansing, Michigan and played as many folks and country blues tunes as we could think of.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Mississippi John Hurt, The Best of Mississippi John Hurt Taj Mahal, The Best of Taj Mahal The Band, Music From Big Pink (Remastered 2000) Taj Mahal embodies everything we were trying to accomplish musically as a band. A revamping and modernization of country blues. The Band used heavy Americana folklore and iconography to write a new Americana song book fusing musical elements.

Tell us why you chose this song. “Break of Day” This song was written by all of the band on tour and tells the tale of Corporate America leaving mom and pop stores in their dust. It’s a great singer songwriter story backed by a melding of American musical styles.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? We had the opportunity to tour with and back up Iowa Singer Songwriter Greg Brown who was one of our biggest influences.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We never made a record with our current 6 piece line up. I’d love to get in the studio with a fresh batch of Joshua Davis songs.
