About Gary Attwater
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Around 18, I realised music was more than something I listened to. I started writing lyrics, picked up a guitar and never looked back. That passion still inspires every song I write today.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Dermot Kennedy, Without Fear (The Complete Edition)
Gabrielle, Play to Win
Tim Gallagher, Tim Gallagher (Stripped)
These albums remind me why I love music. Gabrielle’s honesty, Tim Gallagher’s raw acoustic style and Dermot Kennedy’s storytelling inspire the way I write songs and connect with people.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“It Was Always You”
‘It Was Always You’ is special to me because it reflects a real chapter of my life. Every lyric comes from genuine emotions and memories, which makes it one of the most personal songs I’ve written.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Recording ‘Part Of Your Life’ a duet with Elina Ashford was a real highlight. Hearing someone else bring their own emotion to one of my songs gave it a whole new life and made it even more beautiful.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
To leave behind songs that outlive me. If something I’ve written still means something to people years from now, that’s the greatest achievement I could ask for.
