Artist Biography
Sandra de Sá was born into a musical family -- his father was a drummer and several other family members played professionally. A self-taught violão (acoustic guitar) player, de Sá soon began to write her first compositions, winning some school festivals. She signed with her first recording company in 1977, and soon Lecy Brandão recorded her "Morenando." "Demônio Colorido" was featured in the TV Globo's MPB 80 festival, which gave national visibility to the song and its composer. She recorded her first LP that same year (Sandra de Sá, RGE). In the '80s, she had several hits as interpreter, like "Vale Tudo" (Tim Maia), "Bye Bye Tristeza" (Marcos Valle/Carlos Colla), and "Enredo do Meu Samba" (Ivone Lara/Jorge Aragão), chosen as theme of TV Globo's soap opera Partido Alto. She has recorded with several artists, including Djavan, Titãs, Billy Paul, Marina, Olodum, and others. In 2001 de Sá participated in the Rock in Rio III festival. ~ Alvaro Neder
