About Robben Ford
Artist Biography
The work of award-winning guitarist Robben Ford spans the genres of blues, rock, jazz, and funk. As a session player, he's worked with everyone from Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell to Mavis Staples. His debut album, Schizophonic, appeared in 1976. During the '80s, he played with the Yellowjackets and Dave Grusin, and issued solo albums including 1988's Talk to Your Daughter. In the '90s, he formed Robben Ford & the Blue Line, whose self-titled 1992 debut received a Grammy nomination, as did 1997's Tiger Walk. He cut 2014's A Day in Nashville live in the studio, Sun Room appeared in 2019 with a star-studded cast, and 2021's Pure was his first instrumental album since Tiger Walk. In 2022, Ford and his quartet -- saxophonist Bill Evans, drummer Keith Carlock, and bassist Darryl Jones -- issued Common Ground. The guitarist followed by the live Night in the City in 2023.
