Brooklyn-by-way-of-North-Dakota singer-songwriter Ana Egge first perked up indie ears in 1997 with her RIVER UNDER THE ROAD album. A soothing mix of country, folk, and pop, the album showcased Egge’s gentle, flexible vocals and won big-name admirers such as Lucinda Williams and Shawn Colvin. On subsequent records, Agge incorporated touches of R&B and soul, and her lyrics grew in sophistication, often drawing comparisons to the work of Joni Mitchell.
