With a raw, biting, overdriven tone, flawless technique, and relentless energy, Walter Trout is among the world's most formidable blues guitarists. After high-profile stints with Canned Heat and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the 1980s, Trout led his own bands and started recording, releasing acclaimed albums including 1992's Transition and 1994's Tellin' Stories. By the time he issued 2009's Unspoiled by Progress, his releases regularly notched spots in the blues Top Ten. Trout was briefly sidelined with cirrhosis and hepatitis C between 2013 and 2015, but he survived to write a memoir before returning to touring and recording. He issued Ordinary Madness in 2020 and followed it with the autobiographical Ride in 2022. Broken arrived in 2024.
