Artist Biography
As a violinist with a wide range of musical interests, Rachel Barton Pine has her hands in several projects at any given time. That, and her skillful, communicative musicianship also give her a broader audience appeal than many strictly classical-oriented musicians.
Pine has made many recordings, mainly on the Cedille and Avie labels, of solo violin music, concertos, and chamber music by little-known composers as well as standard repertoire. She has also commissioned new music and published her own works. Pine is a member of Trio Settecento and has also played the viola d'amore and rebec. At the other end of the spectrum, Pine created an orchestral program that mixes classic rock and heavy metal with classical music.
